It is with heavy hearts and much sadness that we announce the passing of Council Member Lew Brown. We thank Mr. Brown for a lifetime of dedicated service to the Mount Holly community.
The following is a statement from Mayor Chris Banks on Council Member Brown’s passing:
“It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Council Member Lew Brown, who served the residents of Mount Holly with dedication, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to public service.
Mr. Brown was a valued member of the Township Council since his election in 2012 and his overwhelming re-election in 2016, 2020 and 2024. During that time, he worked tirelessly to advance initiatives that strengthened our community, improved quality of life for our residents, and ensured a brighter future for all. His leadership, thoughtfulness, and deep care for this township will not be forgotten.
Our township is a better place to live, work and visit because of Mr. Brown’s hard work and dedication. The downtown revitalization, ending the Mount Holly Gardens legal battle and re-establishment of township recreation programs are all part of Mr. Brown’s lasting legacy.
On behalf of the entire Township, I extend my heartfelt condolences to Mr. Brown’s family, friends, colleagues, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. This is a tremendous loss not only for those closest to him, but for our entire community.
We will honor Mr. Brown’s life and service in the days ahead, and details regarding memorial arrangements will be shared as they become available.
During this difficult time, we ask that the community keep Mr. Brown’s loved ones in their thoughts and respect their privacy.”
